Matthew 7: 24 - 28
building a house on the Rock
Therefore everyone who hears these words from me, and does them, i will compare him to a wise man who build his house on the rock; and the rain came down, and the rivers came up, and the winds blew, and fell against the house; but it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
And everyone who hears these words of mine, and who not do them, he shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand; and the rain came down, and the rivers came up, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of it.
And it happened, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine.
This makes perfect sense. Wouldn't you build a house on a rock? Or would you build it in the sand?
Everyone knows you need a solid foundation to build a house on, otherwise the house will develop all kinds of problems and and get serious damage in the rain, storm, hurricane or the freezing temperatures of winter.
Now of course Jesus main concern isn't trying to teach us how to build a house of stone or wood.
So what is he teaching us?
Each of us are busy building " a house ". So what is everybody busy with?
Isn't it "getting their life together"? So building a house is building our life.
What are you building your life on? God's word? Your ideas, somebody elses point of view? What the world says, or whatever you feel like?

The message here clearly is; if you hear God's word and act on it, build your life on it, you will be safe forever, when trials testing or misery come upon you, and they will come as they come upon all, you will not get blown over, but you will stand, because your life is build on a solid foundation, GOD'S WORD, and that will lead you, comfort you, sustain you through anything!

But if you are one of those, who hears God's words and acts like you never heard it, that means that you pay no attention to it, do your own thing, are too busy, you have your own ideas, feelings and you just know that it will work out for you.........

and when trials, testing, tribulations, misery come upon you; everything, including you falls apart . Because you have nothing to hold on to, grab unto, you will not be able to keep yourself up.
So although that life you were building, which looked real good from the outside, and you were feeling real well about it, when the test and the tragedies come upon you, it all falls apart.
