Titus  2: 11-14
for the SAVING GRACE of GOD has appeared to all men,
INSTRUCTING us that having DENIED UNGODLINESS and WORLDLY LUSTS,
we should live PRUDENTLY and RIGHTEOUSLY and GODLY in this age,
looking for the blessed hope and appearance of the glory of our great GOD and
SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, who gave himselfon our behalf, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for himself for possession,
zealous of good works.
To me this is the most PRACTICAL GRACE scriptures.
First it tells us plainly why the Grace of God has appeared - For the salvation of all men.(verse 11)
Then it proceeds in a practical way to show us how we should participate in God's Grace salvation as his beloved children.(12-14)
By his Grace, God empowers us to DENY ungodliness and worldly lusts. Look at it as some sort of cleaning out and getting filled up with "Godly Qualities". Like cleaning out the house and getting ready to bring it back to it's original purpose and condition. Therefore we become what God intends us to be and live a life pleasing to him, by faith and led by his spirit.

1. DENY, Greek word definition; to deny, say NO to, refuse.
God's Grace empowers us to; deny, say no to, refuse UNGODLINESS AND WORLDLY LUSTS
Luke 9:23, If any man would come after me, let him DENY himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Luke 22:42, Jesus said, not my will, but my fathers will be done
Matthew 6:10  your kingdom come, your will be done...
Hebrews 11:24 by faith, Moses, when he was grown up, REFUSED to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,

GOD'S GRACE EMPOWERS US TO DO GOD'S WILL INSTEAD OF OUR OWN WILL.(john 6:40)

Deny- "just say NO". To be able to say "NO", refuse and deny that takes power. God by his Grace supplies that power. Will                power, mind power, positive thinking cannot do it, because sin is more powerful than any of us.
That as sin ruled in death, so also Grace might rule through righteousness to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.              (Romans 5:21)
After we have received God's spirit, we are in Christ an we have God's spirit and the flesh, we are babes in Christ. "Our job" as          Christians is to deny, refuse and say not to the lusts of the flesh and to live in the spirit being led as God's children.
For if you live according to the flesh you will die. But if by the spirit you put to death the practices of the body, you will live. For            as many as are led by the spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:13+14)

     2. UNGODLINESS; Greek word definition; impiety, irreverence, ungodliness, wickedness.                    (properly, a lack of respect, showing itself in bold irreverence, refusing to give honor                           where honor is due)

Everything on the opposite side of GOD, or that opposes GOD.
Galatians 5:19-21 now the works of the flesh are evident; sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity,                  strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies and things like these. I warn you, as I              warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither              sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor greedy, nor drunkards,              nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you,
Romans 1:18 for the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all UNGODLINESS and unrighteousness of men, who by              their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

Ungodly doesn't  necessarily have to be evil. Just the absence of godliness is by definition ungodly. You are either living in and          for the flesh and getting trapped worse and worse or you are escaping living according to the flesh by God's spirit and by                    getting trained in godliness.

3. WORLDLY LUSTS; Greek word definition; earthly desires, eagerness, for inordinate desires,             earthly lusts
1 John 2:15, do not love the world nor the things in the world. if anyone loves the world, the love of the
father is not in him.
1 Peter 4:3 for the time that is passed suffices for doing what the gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions,                               drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties and lawless idolatry.
1 Peter 2:11 beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of your flesh, which wage war against               your soul.
Wordily lusts; being into what the world is into, valuing what the world values, living for the hear and now, making this life an               end all and be all.

Grace, the instructor
Now that you have started to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts; it's time to fill up with Godly Qualities! Here Grace instructs us how; by living PRUDENTLY, RIGHTEOUSLY, GODLY and to look for our BLESSED HOPE, the appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

4. PRUDENTLY; Greek word definition; soberly, with sound mind, with moderation, prudently,                                    sensibly
Look at each of those words, doesn't that start to give you a picture of what kind of person God wants you and me to be?               How he wants us to live?
Romans 7:25 thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with           my flesh I serve the law of sin.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 but since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a          helmet the hope of salvation.

     5. RIGHTEOUSLY;Greek word definition; justly, righteously, approved of God, uprightly

1 Peter 2:24 Jesus Christ bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. by his                   wounds you have been healed.
Romans 1:17 for in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, the righteous shall                live by faith.

God is righteous and anyone born of becomes righteous because of what Jesus did for us, he lived a life of perfect                          obedience and he died on the cross for our sins, therefore his righteousness gets imputed to us. He takes my sins, I get his            righteousness, AMAZING GRACE! And then his spirit by God's Grace instructs me to live righteously!

6. GODLY; Greek word definition; inwardly pious, godly, devout, religiously
Godly to me is becoming more like God, imitating him, as a child imitates his father.
1 Peter 1:3 his power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and GODLINESS, through the knowledge of him who                 called us to his glory and excellence.
1 Peter 3:11 since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and                    GODLINESS,
1 Timothy 2:2 ....that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, GODLY and dignified in every way.
1 Timothy 4:8 rather train yourself in GODLINESS. For while bodily training is of some value, GODLINESS is of value in                   every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
1 Timothy 6:11 but as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, GODLINESS, faith, love,                               steadfastness, gentleness.

Do not confuse godly and religious. Godly starts from within, religion may just be on the outside, a performance or a good
          showing

 7. Looking for our BLESSED HOPE; the appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1:13 therefore having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, completely hope on the Grace being borne to                you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Titus 1:2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began.
John 14:2+3 Jesus said; in my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a           place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may            be also.
Acts 24:15 having a hope in God, which these men themselves accept; that there will be a resurrection of both the just and            the unjust.
Hebrews 9:28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin             but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 for the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an                         archangel, and with the sound of a trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left,           will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.                       Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Looking for our blessed hope;
the appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
.

Therefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, completely hope on the Grace being borne to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:13)
In hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began. (Titus 1:2)
Jesus said; in my Fathers house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. (John 14:2+3)
Having a hope in God, which these men themselves accept; that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. (Acts 24:15)
So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. (Hebrews 9:28)
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an
archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

This is our blessed hope; Jesus Christ coming back to take all those belonging to him to his Father’s kingdom and there we will be with our Lord forevermore. Our blessed hope is to spent eternity with the one who loved us and gave himself for us. To be changed from our bodies of death to a glorified body.
To see Jesus Christ for who and what he really is; the Lord of Lord’s and the king of kings.
When Jesus Christ returns, we will be revealed as children of God.
As Christians that is what we look to, hope for, long for, and can’t wait to happen –
Being with our heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ and all our brothers and sisters and heavenly beings forever and ever!
In the first place, why do we want salvation? Because we want to be in heaven forever with our Lord.
Salvation is all about being rescued from death, hell, condemnation to be in our heavenly father’s kingdom.
